Complaints
the clips in my active headrest broke and the headrest deployed while I was riding in the passenger seat.
Capless fuel filler nozzle defect. Filler cap comes lose and engine light comes on. You can smell gas vapors in the car
System Failed: Total engine failure caused by a defective Recall W79 EGR Cooler, which is available for physical inspection at my residence.Safety Risk: The vehicle suffered a sudden, complete loss of motive power at speed. This caused an immediate traffic hazard, risking a catastrophic rear-end collision due to lost propulsion, power steering, and braking.Dealer Verification: The vehicle is currently undrivable. Jeep Corporate is actively giving me the runaround and refusing to tow or diagnose the vehicle under the EcoDiesel Settlement Extended Warranty.Inspections: No inspections have been conducted yet by police, insurance, or the manufacturer; the vehicle is fully preserved.Symptoms/Warning: No long-term warning lights appeared. The vehicle suddenly lost AC cooling and instantly stalled out without advanced mechanical warning.
The check engine came on as I was driving to work the other morning, and when I got back in the car to head home for the night, my car wouldn't start at all. I have a failed High Pressure Fuel Pump system. I used my own OBD-II code reader, and got back code P0087. This issue is connected to the FCA Z46 recall issued in June 2022. The previous owner/dealership performed the service for this specific recall in May 2024 and was marked as complete. I became the current owner of this Jeep in October 2024, just 5 months after the recall was completed. I have personally driven this vehicle for only 20,000 miles since I took over ownership, which means that the new replacement parts covered under the Z46 recall failed at no more than 25,000 miles. This part is stated to last 100,000+ miles. Not 20-25k miles. However, Mopar states that recall parts are only covered for two years after the recall was completed. This puts the expiration for the 2 year part coverage at May 2026. It is currently June 2026. Just one month out of recall part warranty, and both Mopar and my local FCA approved dealership are refusing to honor the warranty and fix this issue for me for free, covered by the terms of the recall. My Jeep no longer starts at all. I got it towed back to my house so I could have it somewhere safe until I could figure out what to do next about this unexpected break down. Total cost out of pocket would range upward of $10,000 for a full HPFP replacement, including fuel pump module, fuel rails and all high pressure lines, fuel injectors and complete system clean. I'm just one month over the 2 year recall warrenty after recall was completed. And because of that, I'm looking at upwards of $10k for failed parts covered by an FCA safety recall. New parts only lasted 25 months and 20k miles. In no way should I be responsible for the cost of this repair that is obviously now considered a an unremedied recall.
No check engine lights prior to this, car started to make a noise pulled over to check it out as I was merging over low oil pressure showed and coolant level over temperature, gear then dropped to neutral, managed to pull over without any accidents car then shut off, oil leaked, it makes a horrible engine noise when starting, had to tow it back. only had the car a year maintenance was up to date.
ACC automatically canceled without braking causing car to either slow down immediately or speed up unsafely, slippery road light turns on, on dash while driving straight, lunging of the car that feels like tires are spinning and or hesitation.
Vehicle has the exact same problem with the fuel pump relay that the 2014s has. The 2014s are repaired via NHTSA yet the 2015s are not. The issue is EXACTLY the same. Why does the NHTSA care about the safety of 2014 owners/passengers but not 2015 owners/passengers?
The active headrest on the driver’s side deployed unexpectedly. No accident or rear end accident happened. The car was in park and it just went off.
While driving, the drivers side head rest exploded and pushed my body/neck forward. There was no accident that prompted this and was slowing down to a stop light.
vehicle had a strong odor of gasoline then started spuddering and then caught fire while driving.
2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while his wife was driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, the driver side air bag suddenly deployed hitting the drivers head, the vehicle was not involved in a Collison at all. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,830.
My husband was driving on a highway going 70 MPH and the drivers headrest exploded and lunged him forward
Sudden unintended acceleration while braking. Engine revved against brake input. Has happened multiple times. Need to step on the brake hard and wait for it to pass.
While driving at highway speeds, my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited unexpectedly shifted from Drive into Neutral without any driver input. This has occurred twice at different speeds. After the first incident, the vehicle was inspected by a dealership, but no diagnostic trouble codes were found and no issue was identified. The following day, the same problem happened again under similar conditions. When this occurs, the vehicle loses power to the drivetrain, creating a dangerous situation in traffic. This appears to be related to the electronic shifting module and poses a significant safety risk.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly shifted into neutral(N). There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after shifting into park(P). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to several dealers but was not diagnosed. The dealer was able to duplicate the failure; however, no diagnostic trouble codes were found. The dealer suggested that an unstated valve might need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
While driving, engine immediately shuts off. Dash, radio, lights, etc. all function as normal. Dash cluster shows an error message, saying to shift into Park. After parking vehicle on shoulder, engine turns over but does not restart after several attempts. After awhile, engine finally restarts. No error codes or messages are displayed. Scanning with an OBD device shows no stored or pending error codes. Vehicle now operates normally. This has happened twice in the span of two weeks, and never previously.
Despite having the EGR replaced under recall the unit still exploded while driving on wed 4 Mar 2026. Fluids were leaking and had indicated issues with the electric shifter. The local dealerships states the egr cooler needs replaced, coolant tank, DPF and oil change (despite just being done the Saturday before). Refusing to acknowledge any connection to previous recall or associated damages. Contacted FCA customer support and ignored my concerns and said just pay the dealer the $6000+.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving approximately 3 MPH and entering the garage, the passenger’s side active headrest inadvertently deployed. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated; just a loud bang washeard when the headrest deployed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
2/24/26 around 10:45am CST the passenger seat headrest exploded/combusted with a very loud popping noise while driving the car 40 mph on a smooth surface road. Luckily nobody was sitting in the passenger seat. I don't want to drive my car as now I'm afraid this will happen to the driver's seat headrest.
Vehicle began displaying check engine light. Diagnostic code P219B (Bank 2 air-fuel ratio imbalance) was identified. Vehicle was serviced and a valve-related repair was performed. Shortly after, engine performance worsened and further inspection revealed metal shavings in engine oil and confirmed internal lifter/valvetrain failure. Oil levels were normal and maintenance records are available. No warning of low oil pressure or overheating occurred prior to failure. Independent service center and inspector confirmed internal mechanical failure. Engine failure created risk of sudden loss of power while driving. This appears consistent with documented Pentastar 3.6L valvetrain/lifter issues reported by other owners. Concern is potential for sudden engine malfunction and safety risk due to power loss.
